BACKSTORY (1955—1998): Santa's Village promoted itself as being located in "Sky Forest". Opened in 1955, it was built to replicate successful Santa attractions in New York and Colorado (and subsequent Santa's Villages went up in Scotts Valley, CA and Dundee, IL).
Cox Pilot once worked at the Disneyland Tomorrowland Flight Circle. His memory is excellent, and he has been a gracious (and frequent) contributor to content on Daveland with both photos and stories. Here are his memories and photos (#1-5 below) of Santa's Village:
We had a cabin at Twin Peaks, so we went a lot to Santa's Village and Ice Skating in Blue Jay. I guess the outdoor rink is long gone and there is a Radio Shack there now. That's my Dad here in this second photo from the left.
I was also sent a few shots (#6-7 below) from Disney Blogger Disney on Parole:
Here are a few pics of my brother and Mom from June 1958; I love the Big Bells hanging from the eves in the 3rd photo. I remember going there in 1964 before we hit Disneyland…what a trip that was!
