BACKSTORY (March 24, 1972—September 9, 2001): An $8 million attraction that featured 15 musical selections starring 13 male bears, a buffalo, stag, moose, and raccoon. Teddi Barra, "that dimpled darling of the Dakotas," descended from the ceiling on a swing and would sing "Heart We Did All That We Could." Trixie (voiced by Cheryl Poole), "The Tampa Temptation," sang a sorrowful lament, "Tears Will Be the Chaser For My Wine." Bubbles, Bunny, and Beaulah (voiced respectively by Jackie Ward, Loulie Jean Norman, and Peggy Clark), aka "The Sun Bonnets from the Sunshine State," sang about their romantic misadventures in “All the Guys That Turn Me On Turn Me Down.” Big Al was a tribute to the late Imagineer, Al Bertino, who was responsible for writing and animating nineteen shorts. Marc Davis used Bertino as the model for Big Al. In the show, Al's performance of "Blood on the Saddle" (voiced by Tex Ritter) has become a fan favorite. In order to sculpt the 20 lifesize patterns for the 20 bears in this attraction, Imagineers used more than 9 tons of clay.
This attraction was removed from Disneyland in 2001 to make way for the Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh dark ride. See more Country Bear Jamboree photos from the Orlando WDW version.
